Coaching Programme

Here in Bishop’s Stortford we offer coaching for all ages and abilities, whether you are a complete beginner, a social tennis player, a club player, an aspiring junior or already playing at either County, Regional or National level.  Our coaching programme offers year round options for juniors and adults, and we pride ourselves in providing both affordable and high standards of coaching for all.

Making it Easy for Your Child to Get Into Tennis

One of our biggest strengths for juniors is our community and schools programme, which aims to get as many juniors as possible playing tennis in Bishop’s Stortford.  We coach at almost all of the primary schools in the town, either at the school or at indoor facilities such as local Community Centres and Sports Halls.

To encourage younger children to start playing tennis there is no membership fees for U6’s and we run regular tots sessions for 3-4 year olds. Like all of our coaching sessions we aim to make it enjoyable and fun and we all have patience in abundance!

Making it Easy for Adults to Get Into, or Back into Tennis

A good starting point to get into or come back to tennis is our “Rusty Rackets” course, which runs weekly on a Wednesday at 9.30 to 10.30am. The next step is get involved in our Coffee morning on Friday’s 10-11am where we help with the early stages of tennis improvement.

We also offer Adult Improvers Coaching for Members on Monday evenings 7.30-8.30pm.

If you’re interested in both tennis and cardio exercise, why not try one of our adults cardio sessions at 8:30pm on Mondays (this is a hitting session for Club players with rally games such as liveball and other fast paced games) or 8-9am on Saturdays (this is a hard workout with movement exercises for any level of player with some hitting drills towards the end of the session).

Plus don’t forget that the Club runs Men’s and Ladies team training, Social sessions and Box Leagues.  Whilst these are not coached, it’s often the involvement in some of our group coaching sessions that adults find is a great springboard to get more involved in the club’s wider activities.

Making it Easy for You To Improve

If you feel you want to focus on a specific area or improve a particular shot, all of our coaches are available for individual lessons. Working together with your tennis coach in a 1:1 lesson is a simple two way process in which your coach will want to understand your needs and then provide the time and expertise to help you achieve your goals.

As a coaching team we are committed to maintaining our standards and all our coaches are qualified and LTA licensed. We also regularly train with ex-professionals and attend a continuous coaching education programme.
